Witch, Please

Extended at the PIT after it's sold out performance Witch, Please tells the tale of Barbara, your average 16 year old girl in 1684 Boston Neck Massachusetts. Her neighbor, Stephen (classic fuckboy), has been in love with her for years but, all Barbara wants is to keep to herself and maybe churn some butter. Now that they are of marrying age, his pursuits have become more aggressive. Barbara is forced to confront Stephen directly. Stephen, thinking he is God’s gift to Earth, can’t believe the rejection and suspects witchcraft is keeping the two apart. He takes Barbara to court, where she is tried for her life.

Sofia Dobrushin (She/They) loves to be at the intersection of many things and we see that reflected in their craft as an actor, director, comedian, and musician. After graduating from Marymount Manhattan College in 2018 with a BFA in acting and an additional concentration in directing, Sofia booked a role on one of her favorite TV Shows, HBO's High Maintenance. This kismet moment has led to a pipeline of beautiful opportunities on stage, on screen, and behind the scenes. Sofia recently completed an Ars Nova Residency CAMP (Comedy Artist Makers Program), where she and her co-collaborator, Catherine Bloom, wrote a satirical American living room play called the care n keeping of u based on Sofia's own experience caretaking for her father. Her other film and TV work include Apple TV's WeCrashed where she yelled at Anne Hathaway and got to wear fake glasses, two dreams becoming reality. Sofia's directing work has been the official selection of Brooklyn Women's Film Festival, Austin Comedy Short Film Festival, New Filmmakers Festival, and Nobudge.
